Jatoil Limited is a green energy company that aims to realise the potential of jatropha oil as a sustainable feedstock for the burgeoning global biodiesel industry. Our business is based on establishing plantation projects (oil fields) in South East Asia to grow oil-yielding
jatropha curcas, a crop that can grow in marginal soils and does not compete with food crops or forests.
Most of the world's biodiesel is currently produced from edible oils such as rapeseed, soybean and palm. This may disadvantage those depending on these crops for food, competing with land for food production, and impacting the local environment. Jatoil is seeking to avoid these problems by cultivating jatropha, a hardy and long-lived bush that produces non-edible oil suitable for biodiesel production. Because jatropha can be grown on marginal land with poor soils and low rainfall, it can be planted in relatively arid areas not currently used for food production.
Jatoil has expertise in the cultivation and processing of jatropha, and aims to establish a dominant trading platform in Indonesia and Vietnam, and develop a business mode that can be applied to other countries such as Sri Lanka and Malaysia.
